Why become a yoga teacher or a yoga instructor?

Randomly selected thoughts by yoga students (most of them are now RYT 200) who opted for our yoga teacher training programs in India conducted at yoga school Rishikesh Yog Peeth (RYS 200, 500).

A Yogini from USA on why to become a yoga teacher: I would really like to deepen my personal practice as well as learn the tools it takes to pass this knowledge onto others. The discipline of yoga also really attracts me. I’m also excited to learn more about the different meditation and breathing techniques that you teach. There are countless reasons why I would like to attend this course really.

A Yogini from Deutschland on why to become a yoga teacher: Thanks to yoga (my first experience was a surfing/yoga holiday in 2008, since then I practiced Bikram yoga and usual Hatha yoga) I could experience a relaxed mind, an intuition of an inner calmness and an incredibly good body feeling. It does me only good and soon after starting practice myself I felt this want to share the good effects. Sometimes I get really enthusiastic about it and I try to convince friends to come with me to yoga class or whenever somebody has any body troubles I try to help him with some postures. I also do this with Reiki. And usually it works. This joy to share the knowledge and to have the ability to help people to feel better… I want to deepen this and make it part of my daily life. For sure, I still have a lot to learn, to really understand the postures with my own body, but also the philosophy and anatomy. As well I feel the very personal need to deepen the knowledge, to get closer to myself, my inner center and to learn better how to keep it in balance. For me it is very different from other sports/physical practices, where you sometimes get lazy and have to push yourself to train. I am really thirsty about yoga and still I am astonished how much a good breathing can already help. I did a copious research about all kinds of yoga teacher trainings. After this and seeing for example a few seemingly very touristic-3 week-short term-offers… your descriptions oft he course are my favorite. I really like the offer of the additional two weeks to have the chance to get more rigidity and certainty. I also like your accent on the disciplinary part, to really see how far one can go, how capable I am…, to later become a good, responsible teacher and to really pass something reasonable and profound to possible future students. A further reason why I would like to participate is to meet people who have the same curiosity, maybe the same questions, the same needs. To learn, to exchange, to share.

A Yogini from Hawaii, USA on why to become a yoga teacher: The essence and practice of Yoga is something that is very important to me on this Earthly existence. I find that Yoga is a way of life that enables the human spirit to experience a higher consciousness and connectiveness with all of nature. I want to strengthen my practice and share Yoga with others. I want to gain a better understanding of mind, body, and soul awareness to be able to integrate it into my life. Yoga is something that allows me to be in the present moment and take the time to focus on what is pure, with authentic intentions. I believe that by taking this course that you offer in the place where Yoga was originated would be a very rewarding and extraordinary opportunity for my spiritual growth and development. I know that the intensive program has its challenges, but I believe that I have the dedication, motivation, and enthusiasm for the journey towards becoming a Yoga teacher.

A Yogini from USA on why to become a yoga teacher: For the last two years I have been practicing yoga, intensively. At first it was a way for me to keep fit, but in the last year something changed. I knew, that this is what I wanted to do, in a yoga studio, I am myself, my best self. I won\’t lie sometimes my ego, takes over or I have a hard time controlling my monkey mind, but this [the yoga studio] is where I choose to be and where there is a sense of community, love, understanding and openness It\’s where I learn, listen ,grow, and where I want to teach! I have spent my whole life in school, and now in the latter half of my PhD, it has only just occurred to me now what is important to me. I have so much to learn and so much growing to do, in this practice, and this seems like a great place to continue my training.

A Yogini from Denmark on why to become a yoga instructor: I would like to deepen my practice and to gain a deeper understanding of yoga. I also hope to gain knowledge about alignment, and to hopefully come away feeling prepared to share that information with other people through teaching.

A Yogini from California, USA on why to become a yoga teacher: Yoga has been a life changing discovery for me. I have learned so much from my teachers in the US and in my personal practice and study but feel that I am lacking in a true understanding of what it means to live as a yogi. I am seeking a deeper understanding and a more disciplined practice. I am very passionate about the difference yoga has made in my life and hope to gain the insight, experience, and confidence to share yoga with others in an authentic, healthy, and inspiring way. I believe this experience will be a step in the right direction both for me and those I may share with in the future. Traveling to India to study yoga will be a dream come true!

A Yogi from CO, USA on why to become a yoga teacher: After practicing yoga for 3 years, I really want to deepen my understanding of the practice and pursue a career as a Yoga Instructor. I have also wanted to visit India as well and I am very excited about this program. I love everything that Yoga has brought into my life and I want to be able to better share that gift with the world.

A Yogini from Finland on why to become a yoga teacher: I want to deepen my knowledge of yoga. Physicality is such big part of my life that I want to dig a little deeper. I would love to challenge myself physically and spiritually to find some calmness. And hopefully also share that eventually with others.

A Yogini from IL, USA on why to become a yoga teacher: I want to attend this course because I want to deepen my yoga practice. I dream of sharing the wonderful gift of yoga with other people but with the correct knowledge in order to teach them properly. I believe yoga is a wonderful for spiritual and physical development and I wish to share this with others.

A Yogini from USA: My reasons for wanting to attend Rishikesh Yog Peeth are both personal and professional. I am a certified health coach, and I support my clients with many aspects of their health and wellness. I have been practicing yoga for five years and have been offering nutritional education in several yoga studios in the Washington DC area. My yoga practice has been an influential part of my personal health journey. I see this course as a great opportunity to learn about the practice and principles of yoga so that I can further integrate them into my own life, and also to utilize this experience to enhance my business and gain additional tools to support my clients. I have dreamed of spending time in India, and I am going through a personal transition right now that has created the time and space for me to attend this course. I would love the opportunity to experience the teacher training program at Rishikesh Yog Peeth.

A Yogi from NY, USA on why to become a yoga instructor: I would like to deepen my yoga practice that I might be able to share the joy of yoga with others. I am deeply committed to the principles and lifestyle of yoga in all it’s forms, Jnana, Bhakti, Karma, and Raja. Over the last few years i have been integrating more and more mediation, sadhana, yoga, and seva into my life. I have been practicing daily japa, meditation, pranayama and kriya for some time as well as reading the holy scriptures. I believe that i am ready to begin a teacher training, and what better way than to do it on the banks of the Ganges!

A Yogini from UK on why to become a yoga teacher: I am at the begining of a long trip travelling and volunteering around India and Asia. I spent three weeks in the Sivananda ashram in Neyyar Dam at the beginning of my trip, a wonderful experience that allowed me to focus on my yoga practice in a way that I had been unable to do previously. Since then I have been trying to study yoga everywhere I go in India, although it is proving a little difficult to find something that fulfills my desire to learn about all forms of yoga, not just yoga asanas. Several incidents since then have all helped me make the decision to undertake a TTC, and I believe that the TTC will enable me to develop and grow not only in my own practice, but also endow me with a skill which I can use for the rest of my life. The Rishikesh yog peeth course was recommended to me by fellow travellers, and I would be delighted to be accepted on the TTC course.

A Yogini from USA on why to become a yoga teacher: My reasons for joining this teacher training is both inevitable and necessary to my personal journey at this moment and time. As a yoga practitioner for more then ten years, I finally feel qualified enough to become a teacher. It is the perfect time in my life to deepen my practice through this renewed commitment. It’s been an incredible and transformational year thus far of travel, family and art, all in which arrived this very clear realization and feeling that this teacher training is the exact next step in my process of cleansing, deepening and becoming. Even more appealing than getting to travel to India is learning and practicing yoga from its place of origin, a perfect beginning to understanding myself, life and connectivity in the most authentic way possible. I look forward to this once in a lifetime opportunity!

A Yogini from Ontario, Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: My main reason for attending the teacher training course is to further my spiritual practice in the birthplace of yoga! In the western world there is a large focus on the physical aspect of yoga and I would love to experience more traditional approaches that weigh more on the spiritual aspect. I would also like to be able to use the qualifications to teach yoga in Canada as well as in other countries. I think it would be a great honor to help people find awareness, love and peace within themselves and to be able to share my knowledge with them in the busy world that a lot of North American\’s live in today.

A Yogini from USA on why to become a yoga teacher: I want to be in an environment where I can focus on yoga and be surrounded by people with similar goals. Studying in India will allow me to gain a better understanding of yoga from a different perspective than what I am used to in the United States. I want to push myself to stay dedicated and learn more about the philosophy of yoga, learn new poses, breathing control, meditation, anatomy, and reinforce and strengthen the skills I have already learned and practiced. I have been working on finding a balance in my life and yoga has definitely helped me with that; I want to continue the journey I have already started, learn from the instructors and other students, and bring a lot of that back with me to the United States to share with my family and friends as well as those with whom I may teach and practice yoga in the future.

A Yogini from Algeria on why to become a yoga teacher: To enhance my own yoga practice with a view to teaching yoga.

A Yogini from USA on why to become a yoga instructor: I am visiting India for 3 months and would really like to spend some time learning \”real\” Indian yoga. I would love to teach others how to do it as well. So, I thought your course would best fit my needs.

A Yogini from Croatia on why to become a yoga teacher: I love doing yoga, it is a beautiful and very healthy practice. It has helped me a loth in past 8 years and I would like to share my knowledge with other people. I would like to open my own Yoga studio in Croatia.

A Yogini from California on why to become a yoga teacher: I would be honored to attend this course to receive my certification in Yoga. I have been a Teacher for quite some time and would love to heal others with the practice of Yoga and Ayurveda. I took Psychology courses and fascinated by Ayurvedic practices. I believe that I would make a great Yoga Teacher. In addition, I would like explore the mecca of Yoga. I have a passion for traveling and cultures and would like to immerse myself in Indian Culture studying in the most prominent areas; the Himalayas. I hope to hear from you soon.

A Yogini from New York on why to become a yoga instructor: I would like to deepen my yoga practice and knowledge of yogic philosophy, asanas, meditation, anatomy and diet. I am interested in teaching yoga in the future and would like to have a strong foundation of skills and knowledge to benefit others.

A Yogini from Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: I want to deepen my practice, knowledge and understanding of yoga. Specifically, I’m keen on learning more about anatomy, philosophy and spirituality of yoga. Yoga has helped me in so many aspects of my life and I’m looking forward to expanding my relationship with this beautiful expression of life.

A Yogi from Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: For a few years now, yoga has been paramount in my happiness, fitness, and spiritual health. I have always enjoyed attending classes, retreats, and workshops. I have been considering the role of a yoga teacher for some time now. I am ready to take the plunge. Of course, there are courses like this back in my home-country. But I feel a pull for me to learn this practice in detail where it was originated. I would love for the opportunity to study and build a strong foundation In your studio in Rishikesh.

A Yogini from Sussex, United Kingdom on why to become a yoga teacher: I have been practising yoga for a year on and off and I notice the immediate difference in myself after continuously practising over time. I am doing the course to deepen my understanding of yoga but also to awaken a more spiritual understanding of a yogic lifestyle. I also wish to share the knowledge and exercises with people around me to create a deeper, more harmonious lifestyle.

A Yogini from Quebec, Canada on why to become a yoga instructor: I am passionate about Natural Healing, Spirituality and Health and because every person is unique, it has been my goal to learn about natural, holistic and complimentary therapies to be able to tailor the best possible treatment to help my clients in their healing and transformative process. I have had experience with yoga on/off for the last two years. I have been practicing yoga twice a week for the last 3 months and I have been able to see how it has positively impacted my life, so I want to be able to learn more about it. In addition, as I mentioned before, I also want to learn another natural healing – transformative method for my clients.

A Yogi from Philippines on why to become a yoga teacher: I want to learn in-depth knowledge about Yoga philosophy and it\’s way of life. With this knowledge, I will be able to help others by teaching them an alternative & healthy lifestyle.

A Yogini from Germany on why to become a yoga teacher: Since I started practicing Yoga over two years ago, I have been feeling the positive effects it has- both physically and mentally. I would like to learn more about the philosophy – for myself and, in the future, possibly also in order to teach others, once I feel comfortable in doing so. I like the fact that Rishikesh Yog Peeth seems to offer an authentic Indian approach to Yoga. As I would like to become a doctor, I think that the course will also add a different perspective to the western European approach to health and medicine.

A Yogini from Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: While I was going through exceedingly difficult emotional and physical challenges I discovered yoga and immediately recognized the benefits of the practice. Not only did yoga alleviate physical and emotional pain, it opened up the door to a spiritual practice – something I had been lacking and seeking. Through my scientific education I have developed a strong belief in holistic well being. Health can be attained when mind, body and spirit are in synchronicity. Not only to I want to deepen my practice and knowledge of yoga, I want to attain the skills that will allow me to provide others to explore their spirituality and improve their health. My deep, genuine desire to help others is why I seek out a teacher training course, and not just a retreat to improve my own practice. I hope to eventually open my own yoga studio that will allow attendees in our physically focused North American culture, to explore the spiritual side of yoga, thus attaining balanced health.

A Yogini from France on why to become a yoga instructor: je suis vraiment motivé de suivre vos cours de yoga dans votre structure car je pense que j \’en ai besoin pour mon corps et mon esprit.

A Yogini from Colorado, USA on why to become a yoga teacher: -earn teaching certification -learn more about proper alignment and anatomy in asanas -learn more about the other branches of yoga, beyond asanas -learn asana sequencing -practice in a beautiful place with beautiful energy of mama ganga!

A Yogini from Mexico on why to become a yoga teacher: 3 years ago I started to discover this spiritual side of me and it became an essential part of my life; I started meditating and experience a new way to see myself and everything else around me, I started following this path along with my yoga practice and all this attracted more my interest on living this experience in India one day. I really want to be able to transmit or share with others the yoga experience. I couldn’t believe when I found this course as I could be able to accomplish two of my dreams, one of them living the experience in India, and the other one, becoming a yoga teacher.

A Yogi from USA on why to become a yoga teacher: Two years ago I embarked on a vision quest that took me to Thailand, Laos, India, and Indonesia studying yoga, Thai Massage, and Vipassana. I am working on a book capturing these experiences and spreading the yogic ways. I feel this is the next step.

A Yogini from Nebraska, USA on why to become a yoga instructor: I\’ve practiced yoga on and off for the last 5 years. I started to consider teaching after one of my instructors suggested that I would be good at it. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to do it. Over the last several years yoga has become an important part of my life and has helped to keep me grounded during difficult times. I\’d like to take my practice to the next level and help others to experience the fulfillment that yoga can provide to its practitioners.

A Yogi from Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: I have been feeling the call to teaching for a couple years. I feel that it is part of my Dharma and I am ready to embrace the role as a teacher. It has enabled me to be a centered and multidimensional being for myself and those around me.

A Yogini from Virginia, United States on why to become a yoga teacher: Practicing yoga is something that has changed my life and given me profound healing and connection. I am dedicated to sharing that experience with other people and really look forward to having the official training to be able to do so.

A Yogini from Australia on why to become a yoga teacher: To expand my knowledge and further growth of the whole side of yoga and to teach the tradintional and true ways of yoga and to help people reach their true potenial of spirtual growth.

A Yogini from Ireland on why to become a yoga teacher: I have been practising yoga for a number of years and would like to deepen my practice. I have started doing vipasanna meditation and can see strong links between yoga and meditation. After spending the last year travelling around the world, I have decided that in the future I would like to change my career and start teaching yoga. I stayed in Yog Peeth in Rishikesh for a short period in 2008 and I would love to do my yoga teacher training there too.

A Yogini from Alberta, Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: First and foremost, I want to deepen my understanding of yoga. I have read several books and tried many differrent forms of yoga in order to better appreciate it, but I still feel I need to immerse myself completely in the practise as wel as gain proper instruction to appreciate the complexity of yoga. I am not sure if I would make a good teacher of yoga, but I hope to find out with this course.

A Yogini from Taipei, Taiwan on why to become a yoga teacher: I would like to learn more about Yoga, how to enjoy yoga without getting any physical injury. I love yoga and i\’m hoping to become a yoga teacher in the future.

A Yogini from New Mexico, USA on why to become a yoga teacher: I\’ve practiced yoga since I was a teenager, and having the option of a non-competitive sport to stay fit was really key for me to stay healthy, physically and mentally. I\’d like to be able to pass that on to other young people someday.

A Yogini from Quebec, Canada on why to become a yoga instructor: I would like to deepen my practice, which has become an integral part of my life over the past years, and bring it to the next level through an intense study of all aspects of Yoga (asanas, breathing exercises, physiology, anatomy, etc.) In the future, I would also hope to be able to fuse my profession as a clinical neuropsychologist with my yoga practice and apply and integrate principles in the treatment of different clinical populations. I am very excited about going to the source to do my YTT.

A Yogini from Victoria, Australia on why to become a yoga teacher: To gain a deeper understanding of yoga with a deeper integration of yoga practice into my life. To develop the skill to teach yoga to others, with an interest in eventually teaching children. To develop a deeper conscious awareness.

A Yogini (RYT 200) from Nova Scotia, Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: I want to attend the yoga teacher training course to further develop my knowledge of yoga and to become certified to teach something I am passionate about.

A Yogini from London, United Kingdom on why to become a yoga teacher: Several years ago, I changed my lifestyle to cure an illness. It started with diet. This lead me to study Nutrition and eventually I realized healing was much more than just a bio-chemical process. I started practicing Hatha Yoga and quickly realized it was something that would profoundly change my health and over all well being. Yoga (to me) is the bridge between Spirit and matter, thus creating a more harmonious experience of life. I have been practicing meditation/yoga now, for 3 years and would love to deepen my knowledge and practice, with the hope of being able to share this incredibly life changing/tranformational pratice with others, as my yoga teacher continues to share with me.

A Yogini from Manchester, UK on why to become a yoga teacher: I began practising yoga in order to try and gain flexibility and strength, but have found as I practise more regularly that I have begun to find some stillness and quietening of the mind. When I practise yoga it is one of the only times that my mind is totally still; I am in the moment and focussed on the task. As I have started to feel these benefits of length, strength and peace of mind I am eager to learn much more about Yoga, its philosophy and the technicalities of the sequences and positions. I really feel that I would be a good candidate for the course as I am eager to learn, and would apply myself wholly to the task. Up until this point in my life I feel that I have been like a tightly wound spring and yoga is beginning to help me to undo myself and free my mind and my body to finding more relaxation and peace. I think that undertaking a course whereby I can fully concentrate on my practise and do not have to fit it in around a busy schedule would be personally fulfilling and allow me to immerse myself into learning about Yoga which I can hopefully go on and teach others!

A Yogini from United Kingdom on why to become a yoga teacher: I have practiced yoga since the age of 6 when I started with my Granny. I have a harder time all over the world encountering good teachers so I would like to deepen my knowledge so as to self-practice. If it seems I have something to impart to others, I would be very interested in teaching also.

A Yogini from British Colombia, Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: I am very interested in health and wellness on a personal level and as a practitioner. I see this as a fantastic opportunity to work on being more mindful and flexible. A good friend of mine attended the course last year and based on what she has told me I think that this will be an amazing learning opportunity.

A Yogini from Canada on why to become a yoga teacher: Yoga is a passion in my life, and I would love to learn more about it in a holistic sense, not just the physical practice as it is done in here in the West. I feel that your program fits what I am looking for, and I feel open to this challenge.

A Yogini from TX, USA on why to become a yoga teacher: I love yoga and the mindfulness it brings me on and off the mat. I want to develop my practice and spread my passion for others so that I might make a truly positive impact on the world.

A Yogini from New South Wales, Australia on why to become a yoga teacher: I have been teaching mind and body classes which blends pilates yoga and tai chi. I want to learn to teach purely yoga and learn from the source of where it all started. I want to learn philosophy, Sanskrit language, and the whole spiritual side of yoga and develop my own spirituality and disipline to a higher level.

A Yogini from USA on why to become a yoga instructor: I have many goals and i feel Rishikesh Yog Peeth will give me the opportunity to achieve them. I am very interested and would love to study the art and practice of yoga, both the spiritual aspect as well as the physical, and i would like to do it in India. I would like to obtain a certificate to be eventually be able to teach yoga and dedicate my life to continuing the practice, strengthening my body, mind, and soul, as well as teach others. However, I would like to attend this school for more that just to get my certificate. I also see this as an opportunity for spiritual growth and healing. This program would be a physical and spiritual journey, which i have been searching for and feel I have found my answer through Rishikesh yog peeth. I have always had an interest in yoga from the philosophy to the meditation to the physical exercise. I believe this would be a great opportunity on so many levels.

Rishikesh is a spirituality and yoga hub. Consequently, it is awash with centres specialising in yoga teacher training courses and yoga retreats. It is for good reason that this small but sacred city has become known as the capital of yoga. Anyone who has been here will have felt the ancient calm that pervades Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula and intervening jungle and river.

Sadhus and sages have been meditating here for thousands of years and this has left a wonderful lull on the area. There are hundreds of activities to supplement any yoga regimen: a wealth of different yoga classes (including laughter yoga and acro yoga), meditation, aura reading, Panchkarma cleansing, astrology consultations, massages, Hindi classes, cooking classes, sitar classes as well as the higher adrenaline activities of rafting and trekking. Not to mention it is a shopaholic’s dream – or nightmare, depending on your bank balance. For foodies like myself, the food is fresh, delicious, healthy and in much abundance. As are the cafes which all this food as well as a satisfying selection of shakes, lassos and teas, all with love.

The natural setting of Rishikesh makes it even more special. The holy Mother Ganges flows through it and there are many sandy, freshwater beaches – devoid of the usual holiday rabble – where one can bathe (sorry, no bikinis allowed), do yoga or simply Be.

It may be small in population size, but the two Jhulas (bridges) more than make up for that in the generosity and kindness of its people and the fact that you can find ANYTHING you might need for a couple of month’s stay here. (Actually, I was not able to find nail varnish remover… but I soldiered). These two small jewels make for a perfect escape from India’s chaotic and exhausting cities, themselves becoming ever more tainted from the infiltration of our Western ways. Rishikesh is a place of pilgrimage and many Hindus will travel across the entire Indian continent just for the opportunity to bathe in the Ganges before sunrise: an experience I was able to have on several occasions, a mere 15 minute amble from my comfortable bed.

The other “spiritual tourists” who stay in the area share a like-mindedness and there exists a quiet respect for whatever your journey might be. You will arrive into a very safe environment in which to explore and digest all the new information, which WILL blow your mind. I was surprised by how people reacted to my self-imposed six days of silence during my fifth week of yoga teacher training at yoga school Rishikesh Yog Peeth. Smiles and simple pleasantries over chai over looking the river at sunset is the least you can expect from encounters with other non-Indians. It is truly the safest of places in which to explore yoga, yourself, and anything else that may incite your interest, away from all the stress and commotion of the modern method of living back home.

Author: Caroline Knight is presently attending 200 hour residential hatha yoga teacher training course registered with Yoga Alliance at yoga school Rishikesh Yog Peeth (RYS 200).

Yoga Teacher Training In India

India, a divine place blessed by sages, the originator and propagator of Yoga to the world. For hundreds of years sages have utilized the combination of nature, meditation, hymn and biological vegetarian food for self-improvement and personal growth. Since its inception Yoga has been passed on by devotees and evolved and spread throughout society from east to west as a medium for purity of mind, body and soul.

With the field of holistic health constantly gaining momentum and Yoga being regarded as a key element, it is now one of the fastest growing industries. Becoming a certified teacher offers excellent career prospects and an attractive path of personal development and indirect service to the community for those who are seeking meaningful and fulfilling employment.

Every year as Yoga is embraced by more people, thousands of enthusiasts travel to its birth place in India to learn from traditional Indian teachers in its authentic form. Affordability of courses, accommodation and food ensures the numbers are steadily increasing and the mystical and colorful culture seduces people to return again and again.

Rishikesh Yog Peeth - accredited yoga school in Rishikesh registered with Yoga Alliance.

Rishikesh, a small spiritual town on the banks of the Holy Ganges, known as the “Yoga capital of the world” is an ideal place to be submersed in the ancient practice. Home to a number of ashrams and courses one is not limited in choice however only a minority are internationally recognized places of learning.

Lauren Lillie from Australia shares her experience of attending a 200 hour yoga teacher training program at yoga school Rishikesh Yog Peeth this year. Some of the factors that attracted her in this yoga institue are – internationally recognized yoga certification, affordable course fee and positive feedback and reviews from it’s ex-students. It’s a registered yoga school with Yoga Alliance and all the yoga teachers out there are humble, knowledgeable and truly passionate about what they are doing and each student given respect to them for their guidance, provided in Yoga training. She felt supported and encouraged by all the teachers and well looked after by the Yogpeeth staff right from the day she arrived at Delhi airport. This was not just a Yoga School but a home away from home. Everyone will take something special away from this course.
